Book Editing

I want to help you write the book of your dreams.

As a traditionally published author with five books under my belt, I know what it takes to turn a messy first draft into a cohesive, engaging story that shines. Whether you’re looking for in-depth developmental editing, a beta reader, or someone to help you flesh out your outline, I’m excited to use my editorial skills and industry experience to help you achieve your vision.

Why choose me to edit your outline/manuscript?

I’m an award-winning, traditionally published author of children’s and YA books, so I’m very familiar with the editorial process as it relates to industry standards. Before I was a published author, I was a beta reader for Simon & Schuster where I evaluated manuscripts and wrote thorough reader’s reports. Though my specialty is children’s and YA, I can comfortably edit manuscripts across all genres and age groups.

I have my BA in Fiction Writing and Communication from the University of Pittsburgh, where I learned not just the art of writing, but the art of workshopping: i.e., how to critically and effectively analyze novels in-progress. Since graduation, I’ve been in several writing groups and have continued to hone and sharpen my editorial eye.

If you’d like a sample platter of my editorial expertise, I recommend checking out my TikTok page where I regularly post writing tips.

What do I have to offer? Check out my editorial packages below.

Outline Editing

$30 per hour

No manuscript? No problem! I’ll work with you to build out and fine-tune your outline, making sure your character fulfills their arc and your story hits every necessary beat along the way.

Developmental Editing

$0.01 per word

I’ll provide developmental and structural edits, plus a comprehensive review of the manuscript as a whole. This is the “big picture” package. It will focus on character, setting, plot, pacing, and overall story arc.

Developmental + Line Editing

$0.02 per word

I’ll provide everything in the developmental package plus line edits. The purpose of line editing is to make your prose sparkle. It focuses on style, sentence structure, diction, and flow. Please note that line editing is not copyediting! I am not a copyeditor.

Beta Reading

$100 = 20,000 words or less

$200 = 21k - 40k words

$300 = 41k - 60k words

$400 = 61k - 80k words

$500 = 81k - 100k words

I’ll read your manuscript and give you feedback in a detailed reader’s report—what I liked, questions I had, and any areas for improvement. This is not an editing service, but a feedback service.

Britnee’s feedback on my story proved to be invaluable! She was able to provide suggestions and edits for the gaps in my story that I couldn’t quite figure out how to bridge, all while being mindful of my creativity and intentions as an author. I’m fully convinced that I never would have gotten my book deal without her!
